The figures from the EU’s statistical office, Eurostat, also show a fall of 0.6% between June 2015 and June 2016 across the 28 countries of the EU (EU28), compared to a rise of the same amount in the Euro area.
The stable production in construction in the Eurozone in June 2016, compared with May 2016, is due to civil engineering rising by 1.2%, while building construction fell by 0.2%.
In the EU28, the decrease of 0.3% is due to building construction falling by 0.5%, while civil engineering grew by 0.2%.
Among Member States with available data, the highest increases were recorded in Hungary (+7.6%), Slovenia (+2.3%) and Slovakia (+1.7%), and the largest decreases in the Czech Republic (-3.9%), Poland (-3.7%) and Bulgaria (-1.6%).
In terms of the annual comparison, the increase of 0.6% in the Euro area is due to civil engineering rising by 1.5% and building construction by 0.3%. The 0.6% decrease in the EU28is down to civil engineering falling by 3.6% and building construction by 0.1%. Increases in production in construction were recorded in Sweden (+16.3%), Spain (+6.9%), Romania (+4.6%) and the Netherlands (+2.8%), while the largest decreases were observed in Hungary (-16.2%), Slovenia (-16.0%) and Poland (-14.7%).
